Thelma Jackson, age 65 of Cumberland, passed away at the Harlan ARH Emergency Room on Thursday, September 15, 2016. She was born in Harlan County on December 17, 1950 to the late Elmer and Ethel Smith McKnight. Thelma was a homemaker and member of the Cloverlick Freewill Baptist Church.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Jackson; brothers, Bobby J. McKnight, Larry D. McKnight, and Carlos McKnight; and sisters, Gladys Bush and Wilma Craig.
She is survived by her children, Alice R. (Ricky) Calton and Wendy J. Jackson of Cumberland; brothers, Eddie McKnight, Jerry McKnight, Don McKnight, and Bill McKnight; grandchildren, Jody Calton and James Calton; and a host of other family and friends.
You may visit with the family at the Cloverlick Freewill Baptist Church in Cloverlick on Friday, September 16, 2016, after 5 pm. Thelma will remain at the church until her funeral services on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at 11 am. Interment will be in the Creech/Jackson Cemetery in the New York Section of Cumberland with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
