Leonarda (Lovato) Lopez, 92, of Chamisal, New Mexico, passed away on October 14, 1996. She was born on May 27, 1904, in Chamisal, New Mexico, the daughter of Maria Dolores Ruperta "Dolores" Casados and Jose "Nemecio" Lovato. Her mother, "Dolores" passed away when she was only two years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Paz Lopez, Sr; a sister, Louisa Rodriguez; brother, Jose Miguel "Mike" Lovato; and two half-brothers, Phil and George Lovato.
Leonarda is survived by her children: Fabiola Dominguez, Bertha Maestas, Betty Arrant, Rose Gonzales, Minnie Vigil, Naomi Elizondo, Bella Armijo, Dorothy Gonzales, Jose Paz Lopez Jr., Paul and Lee Roy Lopez; two sisters, Rose Abeyta and Amelia Barela; 31 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many other relatives.
Funeral services were in the Penasco Presbyterian Church with burial in the Chamisal Presbyterian Cemetery.
