George Thomas Allen, Jr., 76, of Evadale, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018. He was born in Gadsden, AL, on April 12, 1942. His family moved to Orange, in 1957. George graduated from Orange Stark High School in 1960, where he was an outstanding athlete. George worked at the papermill in Evadale, and retired in 2002, after 43 years of service. He was active in the community, serving on the school board, water co-op and the appraisal district. George was a strong proponent of the Evadale Volunteer Fire Dept. He never met a stranger. George will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Grace Allen; son, Chad Allen; grandson, Blake Allen; and sister, Jackie Delahousey.
George is survived his loving wife of 29 years, Shirley Allen of Evadale; son, Tracy Allen and wife, Earleen of Zavala; grandchildren, Zach Allen and wife, Amanda of Huntington, Samuel Allen of Huntington, and Justin Allen and wife Ramalie of Cebu, Philippines; great-granddaughter, Clara Allen of Cebu, Philippines; sister, Barbara Kristiansen and husband, Fred of Beaumont; brother, Gene Allen and Wife Kim of Orange; daughter-in-law, Sheri Chesser and husband, Doug of Vidor; and numerous nieces and nephews; his furbabies, Prissy and Meow and his many friends.
His family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Roger Hoogterp officiating.
