Willie Ann Reel and James Edmond Garner were married December 8, 1886 in Longview, Texas. According to her daughter Fannie Lee Bozarth, she was about 5' 1 or 2" tall, with blue eyes and dark hair when she married Jim. He could span her waist with with his hands. She was a regular farm wife and a good cook. She canned, made soap and syrup and rendered down lard. When it was necessary, she worked in the fields like one of the hands. She loved to fish. They were the parents of 10 children.
Willie Ann died on October 24, 1945 at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 23 days in Grand Saline, Texas at the home of her daughter Veatrice, Mrs. James B. Hall. She was buried beside her husband Jim in the Winterfield Cemetery in Longview. He predeceased her on June 11, 1936.

Mrs. Jim Garner, 77, formerly of Hallsville, died Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.(sic) B. Hall in Grand Saline. / Survivors include besides Mrs. Hall, three other daughters, Mrs. Jessie Pepper of Tatum, Mrs. Mogie Lake of Dallas, and Mrs. C. E. Bozarth of Fort Worth, and two sons: George Garner of Henderson and James Garner of Dallas. / Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the Winterfield church north of Longview with Rev. Vinson in charge. / Burial will be in the Winterfield cemetery under the direction of the Welch Funeral Home.
