Richard Lee "Dick" Walker, 87, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo. Dick was born June 12, 1935, in Kokomo, the son of Virgil E. & Helen L. (Rayl) Walker. On November 3, 1962, in Kokomo he married Dorinda S. Heilman and she survives.
Dick was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School. He started his career at Delco Electronics on his 18th Birthday as a draftsman. He served his country in the U.S. Army from May of 1958 to May of 1960. He returned to Delco following his service and continued his 47-year career, retiring in 2000. Dick was dedicated to his work, advancing through promotions of increased responsibility with the position of Manger of Records and Documentation Systems at retirement.
He was a member of Crossroads Community Church. He had been active in the Management Club, Kokomo Elks Club, and the Kokomo Noon Kiwanis Club. Dick was a dedicated family man who enjoyed fishing and went on many annual fishing trips with family and friends. He was active for many years in the Delco Monday night golf league.
Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorinda Walker; son, Brett Walker; sister-in-law, Janice Weeks; and his nephews, Gregg Cunningham, Tim (Randi Lyn) Weeks and Todd Weeks. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Judy Cunningham.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
