Edward "Ned" Beal, Sr was the 4th of 10 children born to Asa and Elizabeth "Betsey" Kelley Beal. His paternal grandparents were Manwarren & Lydia (Welch) Beal, first family of Beals Island, ME. And, his maternal grandparents were, Cpl Thomas M and Abigail (Crommett) Kelley, Sr. In 1828, Edward married Mary Ann Church of Jonesboro, Washington, Maine, daughter of Captain Nathaniel & Rebecca Sawyer Church. Together Edward and Mary Ann had 14 children.
