Daughter of Edward Berry and Marilla Burtch, Myra was born in Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. About 1860 she married Adam Book Shaw. They became the parents of five children, Sarah Marilla, Edgar, who died as a child, Charles Nathaniel, Ella Jane, Bertha Amelia and John Russell. Around 1880 Myra and Adam moved to Colorado, where Adam became a silver miner. Eventually they settled in Littleton, as did their daughter Sarah and her family.
