Death of Mrs. S. J. Duncan, the Mother of Mrs. J. A. Austin, in Piedmont.
Mrs. S. J. Duncan, the mother of Mrs. J. A. Austin, died suddenly yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at the home of Dr. Austin in Piedmont, death resulting from an attack of heart trouble and coming without the slightest warning. Mrs. Austin is the only surviving daughter of the deceased.
Mrs. Duncan was born in Union county and was a daughter of the late Jesse Hasting, who died some years ago. The deceased was in her 77th year. For the past eight years she had made her home with Dr. Austin in Piedmont.
The funeral will be held at Emanuel church in Union county today about the noon hour. The deceased was a faithful member of the Bethlehem church while she was a resident in Union county and gave the church conscientious and devout service in her lifetime.

She was the daughter of Jesse Hasty and Nancy E. Heath. She was first married to John A. Harrell, on 11 January 1855 in Union Co. John Harrell died a POW in Old Capital Prison in Washington DC, on 7 August 1864. After his death, Sarah married William Wesley Duncan as his second wife, on 26 November 1866 in Union Co.
