David served in the United States Army, having completed two tours in Vietnam. He retired from MacMurray College, after working several years as a painter. David was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his time fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Walter L. Hoots and Linda Roberts.
Per David's wishes, no formal services are scheduled at this time. A private inurnment will take place at a later date, at Jacksonville East Cemetery.
