Otto E.C. Dornritz Summoned By Death
Otto E.C. Dorbritz, aged 46 years, a pioneer citizen of Charleroi, died at his home, 609 Crest avenue, Friday evening at 6 o'clock of pneumonia, following an attack of influenza. Mr. Dorbritz who was one of the (?) most prominent and best known citizens, had been ill for about three weeks. Mr. Dorbritz, who was a member of the Home Defense Police of Charleroi and who while serving as one of the guards at the emergency hospital is thought contracted the disease while in the performance of his duty. (?) Pittsburgh, moving to Charleroi about the time the town was founded. For the past 28 years he has been a trusted and efficient employee of the Macbeth-Evans Glass company and had a position as foreman for the company.
He was united in marriage December 20, 1893 with Zetta Maud Corey, and next month would have celebrated with Mrs. Dorbritz his silver wedding anniversary. Mr. Dorbritz was a very active member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Charleroi, also a member of the Charleroi Lodge of Odd Fellows, the Home Defense Police and was a former president of the Charleroi Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Past Grand of the Odd fellows.
In politics, Mr. Dorbritz was a Republican and was actively interested in politics.
Besides hie wife, surviving are a daughter, Isabel E Dorbritz, an employee of the Mail Publishing Company and Ernest O Dorbritz, a junior at Washington and Jefferson College, a member of the Delta Tan Delta fraternity and who also holds a position on the the editorial force of the Washington Observer, a sister living in Fallowfield Township and a sister and a brother and his stepmother living in New Kensington.
Funeral services will be held at the late home Sunday afternoon at o'clock, conducted by Rev. C.P. Bastian, pastor of Christ Lutheran church, with interment in Monongahela cemetery.
