Dean was born November 27, 1933 in Vivian, Louisiana to Ivin and Lela Burney. He lived in this area most of his life and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a retired plumber and member of the Local Union 141 Plumbers and Steamfitters. He loved hunting especially quail and dove. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and waterskiing. He loved riding horses and took his girls to compete in rodeos and showdeos all over the country. He loved getting outside to ride his bike, and when he couldn't get outside he would ride his stationary bike indoors for exercise. Dean was a big history buff and enjoyed the history of battle fields and cemeteries. He is known for always being a prankster and rule breaker.
Dean is preceded in death by his son, Kelly Burney, son-in-law, Pat Dempsey, and 8 brothers and sisters.
