William Merl Swick, son of William and Missouri Hunt Swick, was born November 30, 1897, and departed this life March 18, 1919, after a short illness of influenza, aged 21 years, 3 months, and 18 days. Deceased was a pleasant and agreeable young man, whose death will be mourned by many friends. He was married in February 1917 to Inez Greenwood. To this union, one son was born, William Harry. Besides a wife and child, he leaves to mourn a father, William Henry Swick, brothers Roy and Hallie Swick, sisters Lola Mendenhall and Winnie Brooks of Rose Hill, and Miss Gladys at home, many other relatives and a host of friends. His mother passed to the great beyond in 1910. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning by Reverend B. F. Ferguson, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Andrews Cemetery.
