He was united in marriage to Miss Missouri Ann Hunt on August 17, 1879, who passed away to the great beyond on October 21, 1910. To this union six children were born: Leroy "Roy" (Mary White) Swick, Hallie (Clara McKimmy, Bessie Pippin) Swick, Mrs. Lola May (Edward) Mendenhal, Mrs. Winnie (Elza) Brooks, and Mrs. Gladys (John) Shott, all of the Rose Hill vicinity. One son, Willliam Merl (Inez Greenwood) Swick, passed away on March 17, 1919.
He leaves to mourn, besides his children, nine grandchildren, Fern, Harry, Zelma, Hazel and Evelyn Swick, Floyd and Myrl Mendenhall, and Royal and Walter Brooks; one sister, Mrs. Emeline McIlwain, and a host of neighbors and friends.
"Uncle Bill," as he was better known, was a kind and loving father and husband and was loved and respected by all who knew him. His children and the community in which he lived will miss him. His life on earth has drawn to a close, but his influence and principles will live on.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday at 1:30, conducted by Rev. B. F. Ferguson. He was laid to rest in the Andrews Cemetery.
