Dr. Joseph Jackson Blitch, retired Yonge's Island Physician, died yesterday in a local infirmary at the age of 80. Funeral services will take place tomorrow afternoon in the residnece of his son, Norman I. Blitch, at Royal Pines, near Hollywood. Burial will be in St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal churchyard at Meggett under the direction of McAllister's. Dr. Blitch was born in Ellabell, Ga., a son of James Henry Blitch and Mrs. Leviniah English Blitch. He was educated in the public schools of Georgia and was graduated from the University of the South at Sewannee, Tenn., in 1900. Dr. Blitch was a Baptist. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Cornelis Johnstoneaux, of Charleston; Mrs. T. E. Bates, of Pine Crest; and Mrs. W. D. Weatherford, of Yonge's Island; three sons, J. M. Blitch of Dorchester Terrace; Norman I. Blitch, of Yonge's Island, and Edwin Royal Blitch, USN, of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, James R. Blitch, of Savannah; two sisters, Mrs. Janie Cummings, of Charleston; and Mrs. Ella Moore, of Savannah; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
