John F. Hawse Jr. on oct. 30, 1946 in Cumberland, Md. who preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1988.


Mrs. Alice E. Hawse, 82, of Wardensville, died Monday, Feb. 4, at a local nursing home.

Born June 8, 1925, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Emmitt G. and Lena (Keister) Plauger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John F. Hawse Jr. on Oct. 3, 1988, whom she married Oct. 30, 1946, in Cumberland, Md.

She is survived by one son, John F. Hawse III of Winchester; one daughter, Carol S. Kennedy of Westcliffe, Colo.; two brothers, George Plauger Sr. and Frank Keister, both of Petersburg; and two grandsons, John F. Hawse IV and Jason F. Hawse.

Funeral services were Thursday morning at the Loy-Giffen Funeral Home chapel, Wardensville, with the Rev. Michael Funkhouser officiating. Interment was in the South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.
