Longtime Jefferson County resident Alfred "Pete" Clayton, 81, of Waurika, died Sunday, April 14, 1991, in a Wichita Falls hospital.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Willis C. Worley and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with the Rev, Clarence Mize officiating. Burial will be in Waurika Cemetery.

The family will meet in the home of Jim Perry, 219 E. C St. in Waurika.

Mr. Clayton was born April 12, 1910 in Balsora, Wise County, Texas, and came as a young child with his family to Oklahoma. He attended Riverview schools north of Irving. After his marriage May 5, 1927, to Birt Lucile Robbins in Montague County, Texas, the couple made their home on a farm north of Waurika. Mr Clayton farmed and ranched in several areas throughout Jefferson County and was a Methodist. His wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Mitchell and Marie Bonham, both of Wichita Falls, and Bertha Coleman of Henrietta, Texas; a son, Alfred "Pete" Clayton Jr. of Enid; five sisters, Alma Houston of Waurika, Lilly Marney of Duncan, Eula Faye Shultz of Oklahoma City, Ruth Montgomery of Comanche and Alma Lee Brewer of Bethany; a brother J.B. Clayton of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Bearers will be grandchildren.
