Virginia 'V' Mildred Walsh was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on Sunday, Sept 4th peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born to Wilhelm and Mildred Koenig on May 8th, 1934, in Bentley, Iowa. After graduating from Underwood High School in 1952, she began her long working career with Woodman of the World. She continued her vocation of being the hardest working woman all of us knew by working for the Davenport school system (affectionately known as Miss Virginia) for almost 40 years, while simultaneously working at John O'Donnell Stadium, The Mark, AND the Augustana College catering department.

She married Dennis Walsh in 1969 and together they had two phenomenal children, Ginger Walsh and Gay Marie Walsh-Dixon. She was a loving grandmother to amazing grandsons O'Reily, Ireland, and Cormick Dixon.

Virginia loved her family and her country. She was very proud of all her brothers, Bill, George, Stan, and John for serving in our Armed Forces. She enjoyed dancing, earning the nickname 'Legs' in her youth and winning 'jitterbug' contests back in the days of Saturday night dances at the VFW's. She adored the music group The Statler Brothers and had she had the know-how to become a groupie…she would have been their most dedicated one.

Virginia's favorite pastime was discovering the Midwest on road trips with her girlfriends, finding historical sites and treasures to visit, and trying to keep her and the ladies from getting into too much trouble while out and about. She was passionate about taking photos and recording the moments of her life. Her laughter and smile will be remembered by all.
