George was a farmer and the family lived in the area known as Woodland Heights, Brownwood, Texas. When George died the land was divided five ways among his children. Charlie Wagner received the middle portion where the house was located and lived there for many years. Luella Wagner lived on her portion of the land also, but it's not known exactly when. In the 1910 census Luella resided in City of Brownwood on Coggin Ave.

This land was later acquired by the federal government when Camp Bowie was established in 1940.
