SEPTEMBER 30, 1956 – NOVEMBER 18, 2022

Richard Francis Volle Jr., 66, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on November 17, 2022, after battling stage IV cancer.
Richard was born in Olathe to Richard and Ruth Volle on September 30, 1956. Growing up, he participated in Boy Scouts until the 6th grade. He also loved being outdoors. As the middle child, between two sisters, he often let his little sister tag along when he played with his friends. The family lived near a community lake, and when the lake would freeze, the neighborhood kids would shovel the snow on top of the lake and play ice hockey.

He attended Olathe High School and joined the Army after his birthday in 1976, then was stationed in South Korea after Boot Camp. It was there that he met a beautiful young lady, Suk Song Yi, and they married on December 28, 1977. Together they had five children.

Richard held many positions throughout his lifetime. After his honorable discharge and move back to Olathe, he was a carpet layer until 1989. In 1990, he started as a groundskeeper at Sprint-North Supply in Gardner. He continued working there through Embarq Logistics in the warehouse, and after 18+ years he was Inventory Specialist. Richard and Suk had a computer business in Paola called Quick Nickel, where he traveled to many states making friends all along the way. In 2012, he started at Mid-Am, where he built up the levels of Inventory Control, and he remained there until his passing.

Richard enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with family, especially grandkids. Recently he picked up gold mining, and metal detecting. He shared his many interests with his family. He played many games of Uno with Nicole and her children. Watched his weekly shows with Lisa and her kids. Rockhounding with Sarah, Tom and their girls. He enjoyed shooting with Anthony as if ammo was free. He also enjoyed some traveling, taking trips for ice fishing in South Dakota, diamond mining in Arkansas, gold mining in California and Las Vegas, and exploring in Houston, Texas. He was an avid sports fan as his favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Francis Volle Sr and Ruth Marie (Curtis) Volle, sister, Linda Marie Jahr, son, Richard Francis Volle III. Richard is survived by his sweetly adored wife of almost 45 years, Suk, three daughters, Nicole Volle of Paola, Lisa Volle of Osawatomie, Sarah (Tom) Payne of Paola, son Anthony Volle of Shawnee, seven grandchildren: Gianna, Tegan, Everette, Rick, Elocin, Alma, and Steele, sister, Mary Daily of Turner, nephew, Nathaniel (Brenda) Volle of Olathe, niece, Nancy Locke of Kansas City, KS, great nieces, great nephew, and countless cousins.
