"Paul A. Wachtel, a son of John M. and Sarah Ellen Wachtel, was born on a farm near Rosendale, March 16, 1893. He died at the Missouri Methodist Hospital in St Joseph, Dec. 20. On Sept. 9, 1915, he was united in marriage to Ora Haughey of Plattsburg, who survives him. Two daughters were born to them, Mrs. Florence Merritt of Savannah and Mrs. Eilene Norvil of Berkeley, Calif.

Other surviving relatives are one granddaughter, Julene Norvil of Berkeley; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Gilmour of Rosendale and Mrs. Hattie Blair of Savannah; three brothers, Will of Rosendale, Earl of Sand Point, Idaho, and Carl of Columbus, Ohio. He also leaves an uncle, M. C. Wachtel of Savannah; several nieces and nephews and many friends. His father and mother preceded him in death.

The funeral service was held from the Breit Chapel in Savannah on Wednesday. Rev. Charles S. Macy of the Christian Church was in charge. Interment was made in the Savannah Cemetery." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), December 24, 1948
