On 28 May 1949, he married Julia Ann Ziman and together they had 3 sons. After WWII, he was an employee of the General Electric Company.
Sadly, he died under mysterious circumstances in August 1964, just 2 months after his brother, Joe died of an apparent suicide. John had been missing for a week before his body had been discovered. His death was ruled a suicide by the coroner, according to newspaper accounts at the time.
