CANKTON ~ Funeral services will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Velma V. Babineaux, age 87, the former Velma Venable, who passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at her residence in Cankton.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Pastor Carl Benton of Living Glory Church will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Babineaux was a native and resident of Cankton where she was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church. She loved sewing, working in her yard and making and repairing lamp shades. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and many friends.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn R. Babineaux and his companion, Janice Jones, and Andy R. Babineaux and his wife, Lana, all of Bosco; three daughters, Lenell Prejean and her husband, Michael, of Cankton, Linda Gail Falcon and her husband, Steve, of Scott, and Wendy Savoie and her husband, Vaughn, of Bosco; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Roy J. Babineaux; her parents, Dozita Venable and the former Elvina Faul; three brothers, Oliver J Venable, Dalton J Venable, and Nalton Venable; six sisters, Hazel Bourgeois, Mable Veronie, Emathilde Savoie, Elvie Dugas, Annabel Cormier and Mary Bordelon; and one grandson, Harry Lee Falcon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. Friday until service time on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Tobi Sims, Jason Babineaux, Bryan Prejean, Beau Prejean, Colby Prejean, and James Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Royer.
