s/o Moses Houghland and Rachel Collings
m. Elsa Ann Applegate 8 Dec 1830 Jackson County, Indiana.
I believe Amos was a son of Moses and Rachel [dec'd] living next door to Elsa in 1830. He had to have died between 1834 and 1836, after his daughter Catherine was born 1834 and before Elsa married William Butler Morgan 23 June 1836. He was most likely about Elsa's age, born about 1810.
There was also a John J. Houghland, his half-brother, another of Moses' sons. His wife was Sarah Morgan, William Butler Morgan's sister and they had a son named Moses also, who married, had a couple of sons and both he and his wife and one son died young.

Another Morgan appears on other source may be related to either William or Sarah. Adeline "Ada" Nancy Ann(ora) "Nora" CRUM was born 31 MAY 1849 in Scott County, Indiana, and died 1927 in Towner, Colorado. She married James MORGAN.
