William Roy Martin, youngest son of James S. Martin, deceased, and Marth E. Martin, was born May 14, 1895, and died November 4, 1918, at Camp McClellan, Ala., aged twenty-three years, five months and twenty days.

William was inducted into military service on July 22, 1918 to help fill Parke county's quota of that date. He was placed in training for a short time at Camp Taylor, KY., was thence removed to Camp McClellan, Ala., being a member of Battery A 25th Field Artillery.

William was married to Eva Knauer, to this union one child was born, William Martin. His young beloved and devoted wife was a constant and only companion and comfort to her husband in his last and final sickness.

Beside the aged mother and devoted wife and son, there remain to mourn his loss, three brothers, lScott B., George E., and Roscoe D. Martin of Terre Haute, and four sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Pauline Florence of Greencastle, Emma Jane and Ada Ellen of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services were held at Farmers Chapel Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C.R. Collings with burial at the Martin cemetery.

The firing squad from Company E, in charge of Lieutenant Leslie Bulion, conducted military services at the grave.
