DEBORAH HOFFMAN CONKLE OBITUARY
Deborah (Debbie) Kaye Hoffman Conkle, age 62, passed away gently in her sleep on November 6, 2017 at 4:06 AM at her home in Mobile, Alabama. Debbie was born in Waukegan, Illinois on February 7, 1955 to Bobby Joe Hoffman and Marvalene McCarley Hoffman. Her family moved to Sylacauga, Alabama in 1962. She graduated from BB Comer High School in 1973 and married her high school sweetheart, David Brooks Conkle, on April 8, 1978. She and her husband moved to Mobile where she resided until her death. Over the years she was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, including coordination of the church nursery and Sunday school program. She also served on the altar guild. Debbie was also very active in her children's schools and extracurricular activities. Debbie is survived by her husband, David, 62, and their children Sarah Elizabeth Conkle, 35, of Birmingham, Alabama and Brooks McCollam Conkle, 33, of Mobile and his wife Mandee Ward Conkle and their son Dylan Douglas. Also a sister, Pamela Hoffman McHaney and her husband Bill of Chickasaw, Alabama. Also a brother, Michael Alan Hoffman and his wife Maxine of Sylacauga, Alabama. Also a father-in-law, John B. Conkle of Blairsville, Georgia and a brother-in-law, Cecil Conkle and his wife Kimily of Sunnyvale, California. Also three nieces, two nephews, three great nieces, and four great nephews. Debbie was cremated at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama while her husband and children were present holding a private service. Her ashes will be scattered among the pines at their family cabin on Lake Harris (aka Lake Wedowee) in Clay County, Alabama. Debbie always had a special place in her heart for infants and children. Also, she was always giving of herself and thinking of others. Debbie requested that in lieu of flowers or other gifts, that her family and friends consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), Wounded Warrior Project
