It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of retired K-9 Blaze. K-9 Blaze was born in Germany on October 8th, 2008 and joined forces with the Daytona Beach Police Department in March of 2011, retiring in April of 2018. K-9 Blaze was dual certified as both an apprehension and narcotic certified canine. K-9 Blaze boasted 102 felony apprehensions during his service with the department as well as dozens of narcotic deployments. K-9 Blaze and his handler routinely participated in community events and provided demonstrations for community enhancement and public education. K-9 Blaze was a valuable asset to this department and he will be forever missed.
