Mrs. Minnie Bell Sherrell Carter, age 86, a resident of Oakland Drive in Sparta passed away Tuesday August 5, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Mrs. Carter was born May 15, 1922 in White County to the late Byrd Joseph Sherrell and Naomi Francis Pistole Sherrell. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sparta. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Alvin N. Carter, brother J V Sherrell and sister Jewel Moore.
She is survived by her son Jack Carter and wife Pat of Sparta. Daughter: Avalyn Pitman and husband Stanley of Sparta.
Two granddaughters: Charity Holman and husband Rob of Rogers, Arkansas, Jacklyn Pitman of Sparta.
Great-grandson: Carter Bransford Holman of Rogers, Arkansas
Sister: Arlena Bumbalough of Sparta
Several Nieces & Nephews
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Sparta. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 pm until service time. J.D. Davis will officiate. The family will have a private burial in Highland Cemetery.
