Mrs. Lewis was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Edgar Helton and the late Inez Jones Helton. She was an "Outstanding Young Woman of America" in 1969. Mrs. Lewis was a member of "Friends of Hamburg" for many years, and she enjoyed meeting people and traveling. She also liked to fish, sing, and cook for her family. Many people know her from her smiling face when she managed "The Gift Shop" at WCRMC. Mrs. Lewis was a wonderful homemaker and loved her family above all else. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis is predeceased by her husband, Cecil Lewis, and siblings, Thad Helton and Judy Cenate.
Survivors include: her sons, David Lewis (Joni) of Harrison, and Andy Lewis (Amy) of Tennille; grandchildren, Drayton Lewis, Jessi Lewis, Lauren Jackson (Cody), Kirsten Hollie, and Carsyn Lewis; great-grandchildren, Addisyn Hollie and Camryn Jackson; brothers, Randy Helton (Bobbie) of Sandersville, Wendell Helton (Linda) of Eatonton, Larry Helton (Vicki) of Gray, Don Helton (Kathy) and Dean Helton (Debra), both of Tennille; sister-in-law, Miriam Helton of Augusta; special cousins, Darnell Jackson (Francis), Mavis Benton, Caroline Jackson, and Fred Morrison (Linda); and many nieces and nephews.
