Frances Louise Cassell, 82 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

Frances was born in Carroll County, Virginia on December 8, 1939 to the late Lonnie and Zula Alderman Nester. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oleon Cassell; grandson, Dustin R. Cassell; and sisters, Opal Nester, Lois Horton, and Shirley Bowman.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean C. Jennings (Glen); son, Danny R. Cassell (Darlene); grandchildren, Stephanie Perry (Jason Macdonald) and Adam Edwards (Ashley) great-granddaughter, Audra K. Perry; brother-in-law, Jerry Cassell (Joyce); sister-in-law, Lois Hepler; one step-grandson; two step-great-granddaughters; many nieces, nephews, and special friends; and a special pet, "Otis Poe".

Frances met the love of her life in 1955 and they were married for 64 years. She was a long-time employee (45 years) of Sprague Electric and Barker Microfarads until her retirement in 2011. She was a great southern cook and loved to can and prepare meals for her family. As her dear Uncle Giles said when he traveled to Virginia for visits, "I'm looking forward to putting my feet under your table." – a sentiment shared by many. Frances will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Nester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nester Cemetery c/o Jean Jennings 571 Chinquapin Trail, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
