He married Minnie A. Ogburn in 1933 and they had one some William Taylor.
He then married Bessie Willis and they had two sons Bobby and Kenneth and two daughters JoAnn and Darlene.
Walter farmed for several years. After selling his farm he started a welding business (Baker's Welding Shop) located North of Carnegie.
He loved to go hunting and was the President of the Carnegie Gun Club Assn.
