According to Michael Ehrgott's New York death certificate, he was the son of Michael and Regina Ehrgott. He lived at 161 Newel Street, Brooklyn. He was an anvil maker by trade, and died from "La Grippe, Debility, and Cardiac Failure." He was buried at Minersville Cemetery on 16 May 1899.
He was married to Catharina Fisher (1825-1903) and they had at least three children: Amelia Ehrgott Wessel (1846-1873), Mary Louise Ehrgott Pryor (1851-1926), and Martin Luther Ehrgott (1850-1885).
