Greg S. Cook of Vernal passed away at home on Feb. 2, 2008. Greg was born Feb. 2, 1953 in Vernal to Glade Cook and Laverta Sloan Cook. Greg married Karen, Nov. 21, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Greg loved to hunt; for years he guided hunts in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. Greg loved the outdoors and being around animals. He truly was a cowboy at heart. In 1994 Greg and Karen started their business, contracting with the Bureau of Land Management to gather wild horses. This was Greg's calling in life. He loved to rope and ride horses. This involved traveling all over the western United States. This was a very rewarding and challenging job that Greg looked forward to everyday. The people that Greg met and worked with became some of his best friends.

Greg is survived by his wife Karen; parents, Glade and Laverta Cook; brother, G. Russell (Cathie) Cook of Houston, Texas; daughter, Shari (Brian) McNamara; grandchildren, Brady and Whitney McNamara; and three children from a previous marriage. He is preceded in death by a sister Paula Jean Cook.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Davis 1st Ward at 11 a.m. Viewing at the Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the chapel one hour prior. Services under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
