Shirley Burnside, age 86, passed away October 10, 2022. She was born August 21, 1936 to her parents, Alfred A. and Molly (Cupp) Dunn in Tinsman, Arkansas.
She married Doyle Burnside on March 18, 1961. After the kids were in school, Shirley went to work for the Allen Independent School District, where she worked for 10 years. In 1981 the family moved to Whitney, Texas and shortly after that she went to work at Walmart in Hillsboro, Texas, where she worked for 25 years before her retirement in 2004.
Shirley married Delvin Schmidt on September 5, 1998 and she helped him refurbish furniture, build and paint bird houses and do yard work. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitney and the TruthFinders Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and working in her yard.
Preceded in death by her husbands, Doyle Burnside and Delvin Schmidt, her parents, her daughter, Phyllis Clark, her brother, Grady Dunn and brothers-in-law, Harry Farris, Bobby Reddin, and Aaron Brandon.
Survived by her son, Dale Burnside, daughters, Pam Standerfer and Dorthey Coffey, eleven grand children, sixteen great- grand children, three great-great grand children, sisters, Nettie Farris, Doris Reddin and Carolyn Brandon, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will take place October 14, 2022 in Whitney with burial to follow at the Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro, Texas.
