Richard F. Britton, 79, of Fort Madison, died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Fort Madison Health Center.

Born Jan. 11, 1926, in Fort Madison, he was the son of George and Margaret Heuser Sr. On Aug. 16, 1952, he married Eva Stigall in Fort Madison.

Mr. Britton was a truck driver for Churchill Trucking with 32 years of service.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of VFW and Isaac Walton Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Britton of Fort Madison; one daughter, Debbie Murphy of Fort Madison; three sons, Douglas Britton of Medill, Mo., Greg Britton of Keosauqua and Kevin Britton of Fort Madison; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great–grandchildren; two stepgreat–grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George Britton, Jr. and Frank Britton and two sisters, Irene Griswold and Mildred DeLong.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at King–Lynk Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends.

The funeral for Mr. Britton will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at King–Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Soldiers' Circle in Oakland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for American Diabetes Association.
