Mrs. George (Margaret K.) Britton, 76, 1830 Avenue G., died at 8 a.m. today in Sacred Heart hospital. She had been ill four months.
Mrs. Britton was born Oct. 12, 1888, in Fort Madison, and was a lifelong local resident. She and George E. Britton were married May 1, 1913, in St. Mary's Catholic church here. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Britton was a member of Sacred Heart church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Surviving are three sons, John B. Britton, Davenport, and George E. Britton and Richard Britton, both of Fort Madison; two daughters, Mrs. Morris (Irene) Griswold and Mrs. Vencil (Mildred) DeLong, both of Fort Madison; two brothers, Leo Hueser and Leonard Hueser, both of Fort Madison; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Simpson, Fort Madison; and 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Her parents were Bernard and Elizabeth Hueser. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. E.P. Seidel will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery. The body is at Nieters Chapel where the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday by the Altar and Rosary Society and at 8 p.m. Sunday by the parish.
