Betty Cook, 88, passed away on October 7, 2022, in Longview Texas.
Betty Cook was born on May 11, 1934 in Big Sandy, TX, to James Fitzgerald and I.V. Fitzgerald.
Betty married Marvin "Gene" Cook on May 18, 1953 in California. The couple had 2 children, Mac Cook and Melinda Akins.
Betty was best known for the love she had for her grandchildren. She never met a stranger and was a care giver from the bottom of her heart. Betty truly had never met a stranger, and if she knew anyone needed her, she was there. She was a "Jane" of all trades but master of none and spent many years doing body work with her beloved husband, Gene, of 61 years. Betty was the youngest of 12 and was already and aunt the day she was born. She was the definition of "Ride or Die" mentality and was the coolest granny on the face of the earth who taught her family loyalty. She is going to be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her.
Betty is survived by her son, Mac Cook and her daughter, Melinda Akins (Andy); 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents James Fitzgerald and I.V. Fitzgerald; her loving husband, Marvin "Gene" Cook; her brothers James (Son) Fitzgerald, Bill Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald and Alex Fitzgerald; her sisters, Helen Moore, Georgia Burnett, Jessie Lassiter, Opal Lewis, Vaudine Davis and Inez Fitzgerald.
The service for Ms. Betty Cook will be held on Monday, at 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church in Big Sandy, Texas.
Visitation: Sunday, from 4-6 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.
Burial: New Hope Cemetery, Big Sandy, Texas.
