He was the son of the late ANDY and MARTHA LAXTON CARSON and was also preceded in death by one son, DENNIS CARSON.
Mr. CARSON, who was a member of the Tunnel Hill Baptist Church, is survived by his wife of 59 years, MARGIE LEE PHILLIPS CARSON; and one special grandson, FREDDIE CARSON and wife PEGGY, all of Oneida; two granddaughters, LORETTA WEST and husband RUSTY of Helenwood, and PATRICIA CARSON of Oneida; three brothers, ANDY CARSON and wife HAZEL, PRINCE CARSON, and DEXTER CARSON, all of Oneida; four great-grandsons, TYLER CARSON, TIMOTHY STEPHENS, and JOSHUA and DEVIN WEST; and one special niece REGINA CARRUTHERS OF Powhatan, Va.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, January 8, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. GILBERT PHILLIPS and Rev. MARVIN MILLER officiating. Special music was provided by the Carson Family Singers. Burial was in the Hazel Valley Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were: KENNY BABB, ALTON CARSON, BRIAN JEFFERS, BERT BURCHFIELD, EDWARD PHILLIPS, and ROGER PHILLIPS. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
