In 1983, Norman received the NYC Art Teachers' Association's Art Educator Award, in recognition of his outstanding service and commitment to art education. He co-authored the book "Art from Clutter" which is a guidebook in the creation of artwork created from household and found objects.
Norman exhibited widely in the New York metropolitan area and in Florida and his work is held in numerous private collections across the country.
Norman was wheelchair bound for many years, suffering from brittle bone disease (Osteogenesis Imperfecta), but he remained active, pursuing his art and another passion -- genealogy. Before relocating to Florida in 2003, he served for two years as president of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island and he played an important role in preserving the history of Horodenka, the town from which his Berman ancestors immigrated to the United States in the 1890s.∼Retired Art teacher at Hillcrest High School in Jamaica, NY
