She was born Leava Swift on June 30, 1897, at Garvin County, Oklahoma, where she spent her early years. On September 14, 1917, she was married to Marvin Barney Smith at Elmore, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, they made their home in Oklahoma until 1943, when they moved to the Lake Chelan area. Following Mr. Smith's retirement in 1961, they moved to Bridgeport.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Dryden.
Survivors include four daughter; Gertrude Davis, of Brewster; Zela Cook, of Chelan; Zella Murphy, of Millerton, Oklahoma; Earlene Roberts, of Spokane; two sons; Marvin, of Manson; James "Skip" Smith, of Chelan; thirty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1977, two daughters, La Veta Brown and Catherine Smith; one son, Ray Smith, and a grandchild.
