Anthony Basso, 95, of Bangor, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side, Thursday, September 22, 2022. He was reunited with his wife, Mamie (Pagano) Basso, who passed away, May 1, 2015. Born in Roseto, PA, August 4, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Josephine (Natalizio) Basso, Sr.

Prior to retiring, he was employed as a presser for J & B Sportswear, Flicksville. Anthony proudly served his country in the US Army as a Sargent with the Signal Corp during WW II, stationed in Korea. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto, where he served as Sexton and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of UNITE, Pius X Athletic Association and the Martino Capobianco Post of the American Legion, Post #750, Roseto. Anthony was an avid fan of the Eagles, Phillies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

He is survived by two daughters, Joanne Merolla of Pen Argyl and Linda M. Basso of Bangor, a grandson, Carmen Merolla and his wife Amanda and three great grandsons, Liam, Gavin and Colin. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Joseph Basso, eight sisters, Lucy Morro, Jennie Giovanni, Angeline Grande, Mary DeRea, Concetta Martocci, Antoinette DeRea, Lena Zito, and Josephine Basso, and a son in law, Charles A. Merolla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 3rd and Garibaldi Avenues, Roseto. There will be viewing hours ONLY, Wednesday evening beginning at 6 PM until 8 PM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl. Interment with Military Honors will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto.
