Mildred Geneva Wilson, a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2018 in Spokane, WA, she was 103. She was born in Fairview, OR on August 19, 1914 to Herbert Thomas and Della May (Robbins) Shute.

The Shute family moved to the Barstow area in Ferry County in 1916. Mildred attended area schools and graduated from Marcus High School in 1932. She was on the girl's basketball team for two years and played half court ball. Mildred met her husband to be, David Harold Wilson, at Marcus High School, and on October 1, 1933, they were wed at her Grandmother Ruth Shute's house in Colville, WA.

Mildred and Harold lived in Marcus, Barstow, Aladdin and Boyds over the years as they looked for work during the Depression before moving to Colville in 1952. She was active in the Aladdin School District providing transportation for students living farther north of the school. When they settled in Colville, Mildred was a bookkeeper for many, many years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, David Harold; brothers, Richard, Laurel and Delbert Shute; two sisters, Alice Bellmore and Shirley Connell Deer. She is survived by her brother, Darrell (Karen) Shute, Barstow, WA; sister-in-law, Ellen Sassara, Vashon, WA; her three children: Sharon Coffey, Spokane, WA; David (Lucy) Wilson, Blaine, WA; and Steven (Peggy) Wilson, Lacey, WA; grandchildren: Sherry Coffey, Betsy Koszczewski, Susan Valli, Mary Williamson, Amber Vietzke, Nealy Wilson-Moore, and Joe Wilson; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of both Parkview Assisted Living in Colville, WA and Fairwood Assisted Living in Spokane, WA.
