Earl (Curly) Shriner Dies At Age Of 72

Earl D. (Curly) Shriner, 72, Logan Rt. 2, died at 8:30 a.m. today at Brown Veterans Hospital, Dayton, where he had been admitted Monday.

Born in Logan, he was the son of Douglas and Ann Markel Shriner. He had been a conductor on the old Hocking Valley and C&O railroads for more than 43 years. A veteran of World War I, he had served with the 308th Division of Engineers.

He was a member of the Logan EUB Church, Masonic Mingo Lodge 171, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife Nellie; a daughter Mrs. Virginia Ledford of Titusville, Fla.; two sons, Glendon (Glen) Shriner of Columbus and Robert Shriner of Logan; eight grandchildren; a brother Herbert Shriner of Logan, and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Keller and Miss Blanche Shriner, both of Logan, and Mrs. Ruth Huls of Columbus.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Roberts Funeral Home, with the Rev. D. S. Dunkle officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Saturday. Masonic services will be held Sunday evening.
