"Alexis was hired in November 2018 and assigned to the Weld County Jail where she served as a detentions deputy. She joined our ranks at the age of 21.Alexis Hein Nutz, 24, of Windsor, was tragically struck and killed while riding her motorcycle on her way to work on September 18, 2022 in Weld County. She was born to Sherwood and Tammy (Hein) Nutz on September 26, 1997 in Bismarck, North Dakota. Alexis attended Loveland High School where she participated in basketball and a leader for her JROTC Raiders. Her team will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Friday, September 23, 2022. Her dream was to always be able to help others and becomes a peace officer. Her dream came true at the age of 21 years old, where she became a Deputy Sheriff for the Weld County Sheriff's Office in Greeley. Alexis loved riding her motorcycle, spending time with family and her furry babies. Reading, watching movies and Archery were her passion. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her and loved her. She is survived by her parents; sisters, Alisha (Scott) Iverson and Kylee Hein Nutz; nieces/nephews, Adriana Hein Nutz, Kayden Gallagher, Sabastian Gallagher, Grace Iverson, Hannah Iverson and Wyatt Iverson; grandparents, Rachel and Clarence Hein and Joann Nutz; aunt, Paula (Joe) Glass and Stacie (Rick) Gardner and many other friends and family. Alexis was preceded in death by her grandfather, Sherwood Nutz and uncle, Steven Hein.
