Omer Dale Drew, 90, passed beyond the veil at 8:06 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2007 at The Health Center in Lake City, Florida. Dale was born December 27, 1916 in Fairfield, Illinois to Joseph Allen and Hester Delilah Drew.

He moved to Waldo, Florida in 1928 and lived there most of his life. Dale graduated from P. K. Yonge Graduate School in 1939. He grew vegetables and gladiolas and sold them to live. He owned A & B Garage on 6th Street in Gainesville for many years. He lived in Fernandina Beach for a year and moved to Lake City in 1968 where he lived for 20 years. He will be remembered for creating the Learning Resource Center at Lake City Community College and managing it until his retirement. He was a member of IGO, a 33rd degree Mason and a Shriner. His life was dedicated to his family and his homestead in Waldo, Florida. He has been a member of Waldo Methodist Church since 1928.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Delsia May Raulerson, second wife Mary Jeanne Scales, and sons Justin Earl, William Dale, and Don Lee. Survivors include Dorothy Foster "Dot" (Claude), Ralph Drew (Elizabeth), Robert O. Smith, "Butch" (Ann), all of Waldo, Pam Eddy (Ron), Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, and Patti Markham (Lauren) of Lake City, Florida, 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
