Professional Wrestler. Before becoming a second-generation pro wrestler he worked as a miner and played rugby for Bradford Northern and at his local Halifax club. His first run as a wrestler was from 1950s until the mid-1960s, during which he was a European & a British Heavyweight Champion. Upon his return to the ring he went by "The Blonde Adonis," "Mr. Universe," and "The Battling Guardsman" before becoming "Big Daddy," which took him to a new level. As Big Daddy he was one of the most popular stars in the country, being featured in children's comic books and on children's TV specials. He was highly featured on ITV's World of Sport on Saturday afternoons working for his brother Max's Joint Promotions, having a high intensity rivalry with Giant Haystacks that drew high ratings on TV across the country. He was featured in the "Guinness Book of World Records" for his 64-inch chest. He would come to the squared ring in a signature Union Jack jacket and top hat to theme music "We Shall Not Be Moved" by The Seekers and finish mathches with his signature move, "belly splash."
