Memorial services for Bruce A. Carson, 85, Aberdeen are 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pastors Erin Heidelberger & Jesse Carson officiating. Military honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Inurnment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Langford. Bruce died Saturday, November 2, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.

Bruce Allen Carson was born July 29, 1934 at Langford, SD to Howard and Ellen (Rapp) Carson. He grew up and graduated from Langford High School with the class of 1952. He enlisted in the US Air Force on December 31, 1952 and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1956. He farmed and attended NSU receiving a B.S. in 1960 and M.S. in 1963. He was a teacher, principal and superintendent at Warner, Cresbard, Estelline and Henry. He was awarded a doctoral degree in Educational Administration at the USD in 1973.
On January 14, 1961 he married Gwen Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. They lived in Minneapolis, Aberdeen, Cresbard, Vermillion, Denison, Iowa, Estelline and Henry. They owned the Coast to Coast Store in Estelline for twelve years.
Bruce was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on numerous boards and church was an important part of his life. He also served on educational boards, athletic boards, healthcare boards and honorary boards. Bruce participated in various athletic events and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, singing and spending time with family.
Grateful for having shared Bruce's life are his wife, Gwen Carson. Children, Stacy (Randy) Thistle and their son, Nathan and his children, Aeris and Seph all of Bemidji, son, Geoff of Kansas City. David (Lisa) Carson of Langford, and their children, Jesse (Lexy) of Oldham, Jenae of Fargo, and Jordan (Mikayla) of Aberdeen. James Carson, and his children, Ryan all of Mascoutah, IL and Jackson of Eastsound, WA. Beth Anne Carson of Aberdeen. Siblings, Jewel Aeilts of Carthage, IL and Floyd Carson of Langford.
Preceding Bruce in death are his parents, Howard and Ellen Carson, siblings, Carol Anderson, Hazel Erickson and Dale Carson.
