Mr and Mrs Floyd Adkins have recieved word from the War Department that their son, Robt G Adkins, died of wounds on Nov 10th. He was the pride of their home and the news came as a great shock to them.
A precious one from us is gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in this home
Which never can be filled
There was an Angel band in Heaven,
And twas not complete,
And we trust this soldier boy
Will fill this vacant seat

Now my mind is full of trouble
And there is no rest for me
For I know he was killed
Far across the deep deep sea
Oh, I know I never shall see him
While I live upon this land
But I hope I shall meet him
Over on the other strand
Let us strive to meet him
With our lives so pure an sweet
Oh, may our hearts be gladdened
With happiness when we meet
