"Pioneer" Daniel Leedy as he was best known to the Leedy family was born in Morrison's Cove, Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co., PA; the 9th of 10 known children to Abraham and Catharine (Long) Leedy. He married his 1st wife Susannah (Holsinger) Leedy on 04-13-1817 at Morrison's Cove, Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co., PA. In September of 1824 he brought his wife and 4 young children by Conestoga Wagon from Bedford Co., PA and arrived at Section 26, Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH on 09-27-1824. "Pioneer" Daniel Leedy was a farmer and reportedly had at least one fireside chat in his home with John Chapman, best known as "Johnny Appleseed" to the folks of this region. It is said that Daniel Leedy operated a cider press and was engaged as a fruit farmer as well.

Daniel and Susannah were the parents of 5 children when Susannah died at age 27 shortly after the birth of their daughter Susannah Leedy in 1825.

He married her 03-26-1826 in Canton, Stark Co., OH and returned with her on horseback to his farm in Richland County. They later had 10 children born to them.
