She loved God, her family, and her church. She was a devout catholic and was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church where she attended daily Mass for many years. During her 67 years at Our Lady of Sorrows, she served her church in many ways. She belonged to Our Lady of Peace Altar Guild, served as president of the Altar Sodality, was a Committed Adorer in the Chapel of Our Savior, and was a Eurcharistic Minister. She served on the Parish Council and as a Sacristan. She also worked with the ladies of Caring Hands to crochet and knit prayer shawls for sick members of the parish, and she led the Children of Mary Ministry for the young girls of the church. In addition to her church work, she had a successful career in banking. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was raising her seven children alone after losing her husband at an early age. Faced with this overwhelming task, her strong faith led her to do so with grace and humility. She always had high expectations for her children and taught them to love God, to work hard, and to help others. Mainly she taught them that family is important.
She was lovingly known as "Grandma Angel" by her 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. All of them have precious memories of special and fun occasions with her. She loved watching Alabama football games, playing bridge, cooking, and traveling. She always enjoyed having a good time with her family and her many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Gregory Richard (Gri) Cashio (1921-1968), her parents, Margarita Leanetta Piazza (1881-1961) of Sicily and Joseph Piazza of Sicily (1884-1961), her brother, Vincent Piazza (1910-1997) and her sisters, Lillie PiazzaTroncale (1913-2006), Grace Piazza Troncale (1915-2013), Josie Piazza Saxon (1916-2003), and Marye Piazza Lightcap (1920-2009), all of Alabama.
