Ronda Mr. Jay L. Johnson age 70, of Cardinal Lane, passed away Sunday May 17, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1939 in Wilkes County, to Jarvie and Myrtle Mathis Johnson. Mr. Johnson was employed with Chatham Mfg., and was a member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Johnson. Survivors include his wife Juanita Baldwin Johnson of the home. One son Jeffery Lane Johnson of Ronda, two daughters, Janine Johnson Welborn and husband Theron of Jonesville, Jodie Johnson Brown, of Ronda, three brothers, Dean Johnson and wife Barbara, of Wilkesboro, Harold Johnson and wife Louella, of Roaring River, and Archie Johnson, of Hamptonville. Six sisters, Kathleen Jones and husband Duane of Dobson, Louise Prevette and husband Bill, and Jean Byrd and husband Junior, all of Ronda, Eloise Billings of Wilkesboro, Jerlene Myers, and Brenda Davidson and husband Daryl all of Elkin. Four grandchildren, Emily Welborn, Erin Welborn, Megan Brown, and , Mason Brown. Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday May 19, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church, by Rev. Steve Mahaffey. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 P.M. prior to the service.
